Refrigerative Supply Limited Announces Leadership Transition

Refrigerative Supply Limited (RSL), a leading Canadian wholesale distributor of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC/R) equipment and parts, today announced an upcoming leadership transition.

After nearly five years as President, Dermot Strong has declared his intent to retire. Dermot joined RSL in January 2021. With more than four decades of experience in the industry, including over 20 years as President of Motion Industries Canada, Dermot has played an instrumental role in strengthening RSL’s operations, mentoring future leaders, and advancing the company’s commitment to excellence.

Effective October 6, 2025, Javi Richmond will assume the role of Chief Executive Officer. Richmond brings more than 30 years of industry leadership, most recently serving as President of Gescan (a Sonepar company). His prior executive roles include Managing Director at Weidmüller and Vice President of Sales at E.B. Horsman & Son. He has also held the position of Chair of the Board of the BC Electrical Association.

Javi has worked in every Canadian province, offering a broad national perspective. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Philosophy from York University, as well as an MBA in Executive Management from Royal Roads University. A resident of Surrey, BC, Javi is an active community member and enjoys golf, soccer, and participating in triathlons.

Refrigerative Supply Limited has been serving the HVAC/R industry for over 80 years. Initially founded in Seattle, a Canadian outlet was incorporated under the name Refrigerative Supply Limited, which was purchased in February 1949 by John “Jack” Gibbs and Elizabeth Gibbs.

In January 1981, their children, Peter and Alison Gibbs, acquired ownership. Following the passing of Peter in 2012, Linda Gibbs (Peter’s spouse) joined in ownership with Alison Hamilton, and together they have successfully led the company ever since.
